New York’s Museum of Sex will open a branch in Miami in spring 2023, designed by Norwegian architect Snøhetta.
The New York museum has hosted 40 exhibitions on the cultural significance of human sexuality since it opened in 2002.
Located in a 32,000-sq-ft former warehouse in Miami’s Allapattah district, the new museum will feature three large exhibition galleries, retail space, and a bar.
The opening exhibitions include “Desire Machines” by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama, the historical survey “Modern Sex: 100 Years of Design and Decency”, and the immersive “Super Funland: Journey into the Erotic Carnival”.
“Our inaugural programming perfectly embodies our ambitions to be a thought-provoking forum around sex and sexuality, and to bring forth a unique, publicly loved, and critically acclaimed cultural offering to Miami,” said museum founder Daniel Gluck.
