The Dutch Public Prosecutions Office has fined contractor Bam €30,000 over “potentially irregular payments” made during a development in Africa.
The potential irregularity was discovered during an investigation into another project in Africa. Bam has said it will not contest the ruling.
In an email to GCR, the Utrecht-based company declined to say which of its developments in Africa was involved, only that it concerned the company’s international subsidiary, which has been winding down operations since mid-2020.
It is unclear if the fine relates to an investigation into Bam that was begun in 2022.
A press release said the company was “committed to integrity, including compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and standards”.
