UK-headquartered contractor Balfour Beatty this week announced four education-related projects in the US together worth $338m.

Three are residential and hospitality projects in Florida worth $168m, and the fourth is a $170m high-school reconstruction in Los Angeles, California.

In Florida, the company just won a $90m contract to build a 670-bed residence for non-first-year students at Florida Atlantic University’s Boca Raton campus.

The 203,000-gross-square-foot hall is aiming for completion for summer 2026.

In Winter Park, Florida Balfour Beatty is building the $54m “East End Neighbourhood” at Rollins College.

That involves replacing an 80-bed residence, a tennis complex, and a stadium with a bigger hall of residence.

The project supports the college’s new three-year on-campus living requirement. Completion is expected in the autumn of 2026.

Finally in Florida, Balfour Beatty is renovating a dining hall at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. The $23.9m project is expected to finish in 2026.

In Los Angeles, the company won the approximately $170m contract to rebuild Inglewood High School.

Founded in 1905, it counts singer Sonny Bono and Beach Boys guitarist David Marks among its alumni.

Balfour Beatty will build around 110,000 sq ft of new space and modernise a further 105,000 sq ft of the existing school, including its gymnasium, auditorium and woodshop.

Completion is expected in 2027.
