Atkins has won a contract from the state of Mississippi to help with its hurricane-related public assistance programme for another year.
The UK-based consultant has been assisting the state since Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, and has helped Mississippi secure more than $3.2bn of federal funds for debris removal, repairing publicly-owned facilities, and future hazard mitigation.

Atkins have received five contracts in total and have helped with staffing positions for project, debris removal oversight, issue resolution, cost tracking, and final closeout.
