Atkins has named Phil Todd group managing director for major projects. He joins the company from Fluor, an engineering firm based in Texas, where he was programme director.
Todd has led infrastructure programmes in the public and private sectors from strategic planning to execution. He has also worked on large-scale rail and infrastructure development programmes in the UK, Europe and most recently in the Middle East.
According to Atkins, his new role will include "enhancing project and programme capability across Atkins’ businesses to support the efficient and effective delivery of projects for clients".
Uwe Krueger, Atkins’ chief executive, said: "The appointment of a major projects director is a strategically important step for Atkins as we look to increase our focus on winning and delivering large and complex projects."
Todd said: "I look forward to leading the major projects unit supporting Atkins’ dual strategies for growth and execution excellence."
Todd will report to Donald Lawson, a member of the Atkins senior leadership team.
Atkins recently designed a state-of-the-art "aerocity" in Malaysia and are due to to open Middle East "rail university".
