Italian construction group Astaldi has won three construction contracts for projects in Chile, Poland and Honduras worth almost €400m.
Astaldi’s largest contract of the three is the €270m Barros Luco Trudeau Hospital in Santiago, Chile.
The €270m engineering, procurement and construction contract includes designing and building a healthcare facility in the city centre, near the existing Barros Luco Hospital (pictured).
The facility will provide 967 beds and 28 operating rooms covering a total area of approximately 200,000 sq m with two buildings each 10 storeys tall.
Work on the project will take about seven years and will commence during the second half of 2018. The client is Chile’s Ministry of Health and the development will be financed from state funds.
Astaldi also won a €50m construction contract in Honduras on phases one and two of the Arenal Hydroelectric Project. This involves carrying out the civil work needed for a roller-compacted concrete dam and 6km of hydraulic tunnels.
Work on the project is due to start before the end of 2017 and be completed in August 2020. Astaldi will work with Italian firm Ghella on the project, which is for Honduran electrical firm Energias Limpias del Yaguala.
Astaldi has also landed a $73m contract for construction and operation and maintenance activities for 25 years in Poland for a waste-to-energy plant in the Tricity area in northern Poland.
Work on the project is due to last three years, and will be carried out by a joint venture in which Astaldi has a 51% stake with fellow Italian company Termomeccanica Ecologia having 49%.
For operation and maintenance work a special purpose vehicle will be created with both companies holding a 10% stake and French company Tirù taking the remaining 80%.
The contract is totally financed with funds from the EU and the state budget; the client is Zakład Utylizacyjny, a municipal waste management firm.
