Qatar has appointed KEO International as the lead project manager and Aecom as the design consultant for the first of its World Cup 2022 stadia.
The project consultants will work on Al-Wakrah Stadium, the first of nine new stadia the Gulf state being developed, announced a committee managing preparations for the event, according to Reuters.
The stadium will have a 45,000 seating capacity, with 25,000 in modular top tiers to be brought down following the tournament and donated to countries that need sporting infrastructure, said the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee.
"In the coming months, we will also bring on board a project manager and design consultant for Al Rayyan Stadium," said Hassan al-Thawadi, Secretary General for the committee.
No financial details of the contract were announced.
Construction for the al-Wakrah stadium is set to start this year and finish by 2015.
