A consortium that includes Spain’s Acciona and Italy’s RCM Construzioni has been selected to build a 880m-long, 22m-wide breakwater at the Port of Ravenna in eastern Italy.

The structure will be sited 8.5km from the Adriatic coast, and will consist of concrete caissons that will shelter a floating industrial terminal.

The €216m project is being financed by the Port Authority of the North-Central Adriatic, through a loan from Italian development bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.

The project is due to be completed in 24 months.
