10 Design unveils world’s largest indoor ski slope

Snow World’s 83m-high, 441m-long ski slope will be enclosed in an undulating structure
Hong Kong-based architect 10 Design has published images of its design for the Huafa Snow World, a 131ha leisure and shopping destination set to open in Shenzhen, China in 2025.

Its centrepiece is an 80,000-sq-m ski resort, the largest of its kind in the world.

Chin Yong Ng, the firm’s design principal, commented: “The planning and design for this cultural centre reimagines retail development as a multi-faceted community experience, inviting discovery and encouraging guests to explore.”

As well as the ski slope, Huafa Snow World will have a “Funmix Zone” of – as yet unspecified – retail and leisure pursuits (10 Design)

Lukasz Wawrzenczyk, the firm’s other design principal, says the building beneath this roof has been broken down into a series of “floating boxes”.

Inside, ceramic boards and aluminium panels mimic the texture of glaciers and ice crystals.

10 Design is part of France’s Egis Group and recently merged with SB Architects. The company will trade as “SB 10” in the US.
