To recognise new talent in the construction industry, the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has added a new "Rising Star" category to this year’s Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA).
Candidates will have been in the industry for seven or fewer years, but will have already demonstrated excellence in their work and amongst peers.
The award is for those who have made a demonstrable difference to the business or projects they worked on.
Judges will assess evidence of achievements in the last 12 months, and entrants should compose a 500-word statement on the reasons for the nomination.
Applications, which are free of charge, close on 29 May at 5pm UK time, with finalists named on 1 July.
The first CIOB Rising Star award will be announced at the CMYA celebration in London on 30 September 2020.
The CIOB said CMYA has a reputation for showcasing talent in construction, and is unique because it celebrates the achievements of people, not projects.
CIOB Chief Executive Caroline Gumble said: "CMYA has been a unique barometer for management and leadership talent in our sector for more than 40 years, and I am delighted that this new category will showcase the best of the emerging talent in our industry, while giving the opportunity for firms to recognise the achievements of those at every level."
Employers or the candidates themselves can submit an entry for the Rising Star award.
