PLW Waterworks, a subsidiary of Webber and Cadagua owned by Spanish firm Ferrovial Agroman, has been awarded contracts worth €274m ($312m) for water treatment in Texas.
The first contract is a €169m ($192m) expansion of Houston’s Northeast Water Purification Plant.
PLW Waterworks’ will install 37km of underground pipelines and build a new treated water pumping station, with a daily capacity of 1.21 million cubic meters.
Work on this job is due to be completed in 2024.
The company says this expansion is the largest design-and-construction water-sector project under way in the US, and when completed will serve over two million people.
PLW Waterworks has also been contracted to build a €105m ($120m) surface water treatment plant in the city of Pearland, south of Houston.
Work on this project includes building pre-sedimentation and processing facilities, pumping stations and pipelines. The plane will serve 75,000 residents and is expected to be completed by 2023.
