A 494m-long suspension bridge for hikers has opened in Randa, Switzerland. Those alpinists brave enough to make the crossing will be treated to views of the Matterhorn, Weisshorn and Bernese Alps.
The Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge links the Swiss villages of Zermatt and Grächen on the Europaweg trail. It enables hikers to take a path that runs between 1,600m and 2,200m above sea level, and includes the deepest cut valley in Switzerland.
It was built by Swissrope and Lauber in only 10 weeks, and uses 8 tonnes of cables to stop the deck from swinging in high winds.
Crossing the bridge takes 10 minutes and is inadvisable during stormy weather as there is a "danger of lightning". Those behind the project say "the thrill of traversing the precipice is indescribable".

Keep to the center! Hands firmly on the top rails! For safety :eyes dead ahead of you! Walk straight ahead at an even and steady pace! Never ever try and overtake anyone who may be slower ahead of you! Enough time to take in the spectacular view once you have safely completed your crossing and again on firm ground!! Safety first! and God bless Switzerland!
no, I’m good. thanks.
It appears to be one way traffic only.
Should it be named, “The Bridge of No Return”?
a must DO !
